The fine shingle beaches just below the hamlet are some of Ithaca’s best. Views across the sea to Cephalonia take in a tiny island, shaped like a long boat and reputed to be the Phoenicians’ boat used to return Odysseus to Ithaca and ultimately petrified by Poseidon.
